Announced in July 2025, Registered Behaviour Analysts (RBAs) have been added to the Canada Revenue Agency’s list of eligible medical professionals. This means that families who pay out-of-pocket for services delivered by an RBA can now claim those expenses as a medical deduction at tax time. This change applies to services rendered from July 1, 2024 onward.
Please note:
- This applies only to private, out-of-pocket payments.
- Families using only OAP funding are not eligible to claim this tax credit.
- Families must keep proof of payment invoices showing that the service was paid for directly.
